– I’m from L.A. (born and raised) and moved to Stuttgart, Germany in September 2009 to begin a new life with my girlfriend/fiance who we will call…um…”Sonia.”

.

THE TRANSITIONS (i.e. Challenges)

1) A new everyday, physical relationship after two years of relating by phone and internet, and international periodic visits;
2) A new father – a first for me.
3) Being in the role of a step-father to a 14 year old who emotionally is all over the place, but physically always in front of the mirror!
4) Adjusting to a new country which I basically hate.
5) Adjusting to the German language in this country.
6) Adjusting to the Greek language Sonia and Connie speak around the house.
7) Adjusting to the differences in ethnicity and culture between myself, black and Sonia, Greek.
8 ) Adjusting to losing my mother to Alzheimer’s last year, accepting both of my parents are no longer here.
9) Worrying that I too may one day be struck with Alzheimer’s.
